Website and Rental Terms & Conditions

These Website and Rental Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of the Stride Rent a Car website, reservation platform, payment process, and rental of any vehicle from Stride Rent a Car, operated by Sistemas R&P LLC (“Stride,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).
By accessing our website, submitting a reservation, providing payment information, signing a Rental Agreement, or taking possession of a vehicle, you agree to these Terms and the applicable Rental Agreement. Where there is a conflict between these Terms and the Rental Agreement signed at pickup, the Rental Agreement controls for that rental transaction, except where applicable law requires otherwise.
1. Definitions
“Agreement” means these Terms, the Rental Agreement, the rental face page, reservation confirmation, any signed addendum, and all documents incorporated into the rental transaction.
“You,” “your,” or “Renter” means the person named on the Rental Agreement, each person signing it, each Authorized Driver, and any person or organization whose payment method is used or billed for the rental. All such persons are jointly and severally responsible for all obligations and charges under the Agreement.
“Authorized Driver” means the Renter, the Renter’s spouse, approved additional drivers listed in the Rental Agreement, and any other person expressly authorized by Stride in writing.
“Vehicle” means the vehicle identified in the Rental Agreement, including its keys, key fobs, tires, tools, accessories, documents, equipment, and any replacement vehicle.
“Charges” means all rental charges, taxes, fees, deposits, authorizations, tolls, citations, fuel charges, damage charges, cleaning fees, smoking fees, late fees, optional products, recovery costs, and other amounts authorized under the Agreement.
2. Rental Eligibility and Required Documents
The minimum rental age is 21. Drivers under age 25 may be charged a Young Driver Fee. Drivers age 70 and older may be charged a Senior Driver Fee.
To rent a Vehicle, the main driver must present:
A valid driver’s license issued at least one year before the rental start date;
A valid credit card in the main driver’s name, unless a debit-card or cash rental is specifically approved;
A passport, government-issued ID, or other acceptable secondary identification when requested;
Proof of valid insurance coverage, where required;
Any other documents reasonably requested to verify identity, payment ability, driving eligibility, or insurance.
Driver’s licenses must be in the Latin alphabet. An International Driving Permit may be required when the license is not in the Latin alphabet.
Non-U.S. residents may be required to present a passport, proof of residence outside the United States, and a return airline ticket.
Stride may refuse to rent a Vehicle if documents are invalid, expired, incomplete, fraudulent, inconsistent with the reservation, or if the customer does not meet payment, insurance, age, identification, or eligibility requirements.
3. Authorized Drivers
Only Authorized Drivers may operate the Vehicle.
Up to two additional drivers may be added, subject to approval and an additional-driver fee from $12.99 plus applicable taxes per day, per additional driver.
All Authorized Drivers must meet the same age, driver’s license, identification, insurance, and payment eligibility requirements as the main Renter.
4. Intellectual Property and Website Use
All content on this website, including the Stride Rent a Car name, logos, trademarks, text, photographs, graphics, vehicle descriptions, booking tools, software, layouts, designs, videos, and other materials, is owned by or licensed to Sistemas R&P LLC and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws.
You may use this website only for lawful purposes related to obtaining information, requesting a quote, making or managing a reservation, or communicating with Stride.
You may not:
Copy, reproduce, distribute, modify, publish, sell, license, or commercially exploit website content without our written permission;
Use automated systems, bots, scraping tools, or data-mining tools to access or collect website data;
Attempt to access restricted systems, accounts, payment tools, or reservation systems without authorization;
Upload malicious code, viruses, ransomware, spyware, or harmful content;
Use the website to make fraudulent, false, duplicate, speculative, or unauthorized reservations;
Use another person’s identity, driver’s license, payment card, or personal information without authorization;
Interfere with the website, reservation process, payment process, security measures, or other users.
Stride may cancel reservations, refuse service, block website access, preserve records, report suspected fraud, and take any lawful action for prohibited conduct.
5. Reservations and Vehicle Availability
A reservation is a request for a vehicle category and is subject to vehicle availability, payment authorization, driver eligibility, insurance verification, and acceptance of the Rental Agreement at pickup.
Vehicle makes and models shown on the website are examples only. Stride may provide a vehicle of the same or similar category.
Reservations are valid until one hour after the scheduled pickup time unless the customer contacts Stride before that time and the Vehicle remains available.
Multiple, duplicate, speculative, or fraudulent reservations may be canceled. Reservations made using inaccurate, incomplete, false, or unauthorized information may be canceled and may be subject to applicable fees.
Service is not provided for an unconfirmed reservation.
Any requested change to pickup time, location, vehicle category, driver information, or payment method is subject to availability and must be communicated through the original booking source or in writing to help@striderentacar.com.
6. Rates, Payment Terms, and Deposits
Rates are calculated based on the pickup and return dates, times, locations, vehicle category, mileage allowance, selected products, taxes, fees, and booking terms shown in the reservation or Rental Agreement.
Rental days are calculated on a 24-hour basis beginning at the scheduled pickup time.
At pickup, you must pay the rental amount due and provide a security deposit authorization or payment, as required by Stride.
Stride may place a hold, preauthorization, or charge on your payment card for the estimated rental charges plus a reasonable security deposit. The security deposit may be up to $2,500, depending on vehicle category, renter eligibility, insurance, payment method, travel status, rental duration, and other risk factors.
The security deposit may be used to pay any unpaid amounts owed under the Agreement, including tolls, fuel, tickets, damage, cleaning, smoking, late return charges, administrative fees, or other authorized Charges.
Accepted payment methods may include Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and Diners Club, subject to authorization. American Express is not accepted unless Stride confirms otherwise in writing.
Debit-card and cash rentals, if approved, may require additional identification, insurance verification, security deposits, or purchase of additional protection products.
You authorize Stride and its payment processors to charge the payment method provided for all Charges due under the Agreement, including Charges identified after the Vehicle is returned.
All Charges are subject to final audit. If an error is discovered after the rental closes, you authorize Stride to correct the amount charged to the payment method used for the rental.
Past-due amounts may be subject to a late fee of 2% per month or the maximum amount allowed by law, whichever is less.
If a chargeback is filed in violation of this Agreement or is resolved in Stride’s favor, Stride may charge a reasonable administrative fee of up to $100, where permitted by law.
7. Cancellations, No-Shows, Refunds, and Early Returns
Reservations must be canceled through the original booking source or by written notice to help@striderentacar.com.
For eligible prepaid reservations, cancellations made at least 48 hours before the scheduled pickup time may receive a full refund, subject to the reservation rate rules and the booking source’s policies.
Customers who cancel less than 48 hours before pickup, fail to appear for the reservation, do not qualify for rental, fail to provide required documents, present invalid documents, lack required funds or payment authorization, or fail insurance verification may be charged one rental day or a $50 administrative fee, whichever is greater.
If the Vehicle is not picked up within one hour after the scheduled pickup time and the customer has not contacted Stride, the reservation may be treated as a no-show and the Vehicle may be released to another customer.
There is no refund for unused rental days due to an early return, unless required by law or expressly approved by Stride in writing.
Eligible refunds are issued to the original payment method within approximately 5 to 10 business days after approval. Financial institutions may take additional time to post the refund.
8. Rental Period, Vehicle Return, and Condition
You must return the Vehicle to the location, on the date, and at the time shown in the Rental Agreement, unless Stride approves a written extension.
For rentals longer than 30 days, the Vehicle must be returned for inspection, maintenance, and renewal of the Rental Agreement.
You must return the Vehicle in the same condition in which it was rented, except for normal wear and tear.
The Vehicle must be returned with at least the same amount of fuel as at pickup, unless prepaid fuel was purchased.
If the Vehicle is returned after business hours, you remain responsible for the Vehicle and all related Charges until Stride inspects it at the next business opening.
A grace period of up to two hours may be available at Stride’s discretion. If the Vehicle is returned late, a late return fee of up to $160 plus applicable taxes may apply, in addition to any additional rental time and other Charges.
9. Cleaning, Smoking, Keys, and Personal Property
A cleaning fee of up to $350 plus applicable taxes may apply if the Vehicle is returned substantially less clean than when rented.
Smoking, vaping, marijuana use, cigarettes, cigars, tobacco products, and any other smoking substance are strictly prohibited in all Vehicles.
If the Vehicle is returned with evidence of smoking, vaping, smoke odor, ash, burns, residue, or related contamination, the Renter will be charged a Smoking Fee of up to $450 plus applicable taxes. This fee may be charged in addition to actual repair costs, odor-removal expenses, damage charges, or other authorized Charges.
Lost, damaged, or destroyed keys or key fobs may result in a charge starting at $450 plus applicable taxes, depending on the Vehicle model, replacement cost, towing, programming, delivery, or locksmith service required.
Stride is not responsible for loss of or damage to personal property left in, on, or carried in the Vehicle, regardless of fault.
10. Prohibited Vehicle Uses
The following uses are prohibited and are material breaches of the Agreement:
Operation by anyone who is not an Authorized Driver;
Operation by anyone without a valid driver’s license or with a suspended, revoked, or restricted license;
Driving under the influence of alcohol, marijuana, illegal drugs, prescription medication that impairs driving, or any controlled substance;
Obtaining or extending a rental through false, misleading, fraudulent, or incomplete information;
Use in connection with a crime, other than a minor traffic violation;
Use to transport dangerous, hazardous, illegal, or improperly secured items;
Use to transport persons or property for hire;
Use for Uber, Lyft, rideshare, food delivery, courier, delivery, towing, hauling, or other commercial purposes without written approval;
Pushing or towing another vehicle, trailer, or object without written approval;
Racing, speed contests, reckless driving, stunts, or off-road use;
Driving on unpaved roads or roads unsuitable for the Vehicle;
Carrying more passengers than available seat belts;
Transporting children without legally required child-restraint systems;
Teaching another person to drive;
Operating the Vehicle with an altered, disconnected, or tampered odometer;
Removing, disabling, damaging, or interfering with GPS, telematics, toll devices, event data recorders, or other installed equipment;
Driving where Vehicle clearance is insufficient;
Continuing to operate the Vehicle when you know, or reasonably should know, that doing so may damage it;
Operating handheld phones, mobile devices, or communication devices while driving other than in hands-free mode;
Transporting animals other than trained service animals, unless Stride gives written approval.
A prohibited use may void Collision Damage Waiver, Supplemental Liability Insurance, roadside protection, toll options, and any other optional protection product. You may become fully responsible for all losses, damages, claims, fees, and expenses.
11. Damage, Loss, Accidents, Tolls, Citations, and Towing
You are responsible for all damage to, loss of, theft of, or vandalism involving the Vehicle, whether or not you are at fault, unless responsibility is expressly waived in writing.
Your responsibility may include:
Repair costs;
Fair market retail value less salvage value if the Vehicle is not repaired;
Loss of Use;
Diminished Value;
Appraisal fees;
Towing, storage, impound, recovery, and repossession costs;
Administrative expenses;
Attorney fees and collection costs where permitted by law.
“Loss of Use” means the loss of Stride’s ability to rent, sell, display, transport, or otherwise use the Vehicle while it is damaged, lost, stolen, or being repaired. Loss of Use may be calculated using the daily rental rate for the period reasonably required to repair or replace the Vehicle.
You must immediately report accidents, theft, vandalism, or damage to Stride and local law enforcement, unless doing so would place you in immediate danger.
You must cooperate with Stride, insurers, law enforcement, claims administrators, and other parties investigating a loss.
You are responsible for all tolls, toll violations, parking charges, tickets, citations, traffic violations, fines, penalties, and taxes incurred during the rental period.
For each toll, citation, or violation, Stride or a third-party processor may charge an administrative fee of up to $99 plus applicable taxes, in addition to the underlying amount owed.
If the Vehicle is towed, impounded, or involved in a prohibited parking situation, accident, or violation, you may be charged towing and impound costs plus an administrative fee starting at $375 plus applicable taxes.
You authorize Stride to provide your rental, contact, driver, and payment information to toll agencies, governmental authorities, insurance providers, collection agencies, processors, and other parties as necessary to process Charges or enforce this Agreement.
12. Toll Service and Electronic Transponders
Vehicles may be equipped with a toll transponder permanently installed on the windshield. Personal toll transponders are not permitted unless Stride provides written approval.
Removing, damaging, or tampering with the installed transponder may result in a fee of up to $250 plus applicable taxes, in addition to repair or replacement costs.
Where available, toll options may include:
Toll Activation: $12.99 plus applicable taxes per day, plus the actual toll amounts incurred;
Unlimited Toll Option: $18.99 plus applicable taxes per day, with unlimited eligible toll usage during the rental;
Decline Toll Service: If tolls are incurred, a fee of $24.99 plus applicable taxes per day may apply, plus the actual toll amounts incurred.
Toll options, availability, and charges may vary by location, rental duration, vehicle, and travel area.
13. Insurance and Optional Protection Products
You are responsible for all injury, damage, and loss you cause to yourself, the Vehicle, third parties, or property unless coverage applies under a valid insurance policy or optional protection product.
You may be required to provide proof of valid liability, collision, and comprehensive insurance in your name.
If you use your own insurance, you must provide proof of coverage acceptable to Stride. Your insurance may be subject to verification.
Insurance policies from Puerto Rico or Canada may not be accepted unless approved by Stride in writing.
Where your own policy has a collision or comprehensive deductible greater than $1,000, you may be required to purchase additional protection or provide an increased security deposit.
Collision Damage Waiver (“CDW”), Supplemental Liability Insurance (“SLI”), Personal Accident Insurance/Personal Effects Coverage (“PAI/PEC”), roadside assistance, glass and tire coverage, and other protection products may be offered for an additional daily charge.
CDW may be declined only when approved proof of qualifying coverage is provided, including qualifying credit-card rental coverage where the rental is paid at pickup with the same card offering the coverage.
Optional protection products may be void if you breach the Agreement, provide false information, fail to report an accident, leave an accident scene unlawfully, fail to cooperate with an investigation, or use the Vehicle in a prohibited manner.
Optional products, rates, coverage limitations, exclusions, and deductibles are disclosed at booking or pickup and may vary by vehicle category, renter qualification, location, and rental length.
14. Mileage, Geographic Restrictions, and One-Way Rentals
Unless otherwise stated in the Rental Agreement:
Non-Florida residents may receive unlimited mileage within the State of Florida;
Florida residents may receive 50 free miles per rental day;
Excess mileage may be charged at $0.79 plus applicable taxes per mile;
Vehicles may be driven only within the State of Florida unless Stride gives written permission.
Taking the Vehicle outside Florida without written approval may result in a cross-border fee of $1,000 plus applicable taxes, plus a mileage charge of $0.25 plus applicable taxes for all rental miles.
International rentals and cross-border rentals are not permitted without written authorization.
Domestic one-way rentals may be available for an additional charge. Current one-way charges may include:
Miami to Orlando: $149.99 plus tax;
Miami to Fort Lauderdale: $89.99 plus tax;
Miami to Tampa: $149.99 plus tax;
Orlando to Fort Lauderdale: $149.99 plus tax;
Orlando to Tampa: $69.99 plus tax;
Tampa to Fort Lauderdale: $149.99 plus tax.
One-way availability and pricing are subject to change and must be confirmed in the reservation or Rental Agreement.
15. Additional Products and Services
When available, optional products and services may include:
Child, infant, or booster seat: $6.99 plus applicable taxes per day;
GPS navigation device: $6.99 plus applicable taxes per day;
Glass and Tire Coverage: $4.99 plus applicable taxes per day;
PAI/PEC: $6.99 plus applicable taxes per day;
Roadside Assistance: $2.99 plus applicable taxes per day;
Local unlimited mileage for Florida residents: $19.99 plus applicable taxes per day;
SIM card: $50 plus applicable taxes each;
After-hours airport return service: $150 plus applicable taxes.
The Renter is solely responsible for selecting and properly installing any child safety seat.
Prices, availability, conditions, and restrictions for optional products may change and are confirmed at booking or pickup.
16. Privacy, Telematics, and Communications
Vehicles may be equipped with GPS, telematics, toll transponders, event data recorders, or other technology.
Stride may collect, use, disclose, and retain information relating to the Vehicle, including location, mileage, vehicle condition, toll activity, accident data, driving events, and payment activity, to the extent permitted by law and as described in our Privacy Policy.
You agree that Stride may contact you by phone, email, text message, mail, or other reasonable methods regarding your reservation, rental, payments, tolls, claims, collections, recalls, safety matters, or customer service.
17. Disclaimer, Indemnity, and Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Stride makes no warranties, express or implied, concerning the Vehicle or website, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, availability, uninterrupted service, accuracy, or error-free operation.
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Stride, Sistemas R&P LLC, its affiliates, owners, employees, agents, insurers, processors, and service providers from claims, losses, damages, liabilities, costs, and attorney fees arising from your use of the Vehicle, breach of the Agreement, negligence, misconduct, or violation of law.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Stride will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages arising from use of the website, reservation system, payment system, Vehicle, or rental transaction.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot legally be limited or excluded.
18. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms, your use of the website, reservations, payment transactions, and rental relationship are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
Before filing a legal claim, you agree to contact Stride and provide a reasonable opportunity to resolve the dispute informally.
Unless otherwise required by law or governed by a specific written Rental Agreement provision, any legal action arising from these Terms, the website, a reservation, or a rental transaction must be brought in the appropriate state or federal court located in Miami-Dade County, Florida.
Nothing prevents either party from seeking emergency injunctive or equitable relief when legally appropriate.
19. Miscellaneous
These Terms, together with the applicable Rental Agreement, form the entire agreement between you and Stride concerning the website, reservation, and rental.
Stride may update these Terms at any time. The current version will be posted on the website with a revised effective date.
If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect.
Stride’s failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of its right to enforce that provision later.
